Artist Spotlight on SOA. Meet soa. Canadian-born, Brazil-based. Her debut EP 'Maybe It's The Moon' hopes to inspire movement, love and creativity in her audience. ‘Maybe It’s The Moon’ feels familiar yet otherworldly and traces our steps back in time to our deepest intentions. Guiding us to our roots of love, breath and beats. Her smooth and earthy vocals will take you on an ethereal journey between two hemispheres. Inspiration comes from the rugged and rainy pacific northwest where she works on first nation territories restoring coastal conifer forests. soa spends the other half of the year in the tropical Brazilian jungle. Playing in the ocean and waterfalls, swinging from vines and nourishing her creativity with coconuts and cacau. Close your eyes and dance.

Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about? If you are releasing an album then either describe the
thinking behind the project or choose a couple of lead tracks to focus on.
'ma luv' was written at my piano whilst pondering love. It's inspired by her first time falling in love, being entangled by it at every moment. When you finally feel a deep, past life soul connection with someone, the feeling is hard to describe, and easier put into melody. 'cold water' was written while sitting on the beach of soa's hometown, Vancouver, after a cold spring dip in the ocean and looking out over the ocean to the snow topped mountains. The lyrics of this song capture exactly that moment, of feeling your entire body alive after a cold dip, appreciating the sunshine and the simple beauty of nature. 'Maybe it's the moon' is inspired by the moon. The moon in all her forms and how us women are so linked to her cycles. How she has the ability to change our mood. It's about the feeling you get when you are high off life, inspired to sing and create.
